- INTRODUCTION TO MATCH AND SOLVE
-
- Match and Solve is a memory and puzzle game combined, with
- funny and interesting sound options. The object of the game
- is to match tiles and reveal a message underneath the tiles.
- Solve the puzzle by entering the correct phrase. Each time
- you click on a tile, the score goes up. If you try to solve
- the puzzle and miss, your score goes up more. The lower your
- score, the better.
-
- Strategy:
-
- Try to match pieces of the puzzle that reveal parts of the
- phrase underneath. Once you think you know the answer, click
- on the "Solve" button, and enter your guess. (Don't worry
- about uppercase or lowercase) There are no periods on the
- phrases, but some may have punctuation such as an apostrophe
- (') comma (,) or question mark (?). For example, if the
- phrase is "Let's eat dinner" you MUST put the apostrophe in
- the phrase for it to match. In phrases such as Austin, Texas
- you must place the comma in the phrase, then a single blank,
- then the state.
-
- FREEBIES: When choosing tiles, you may run across a Freebie.
- A Freebie matches with any other tile. For this reason, its
- possible to match all tiles, and have two unmatched tiles
- left -- because they were previously matched with a Freebie.
-
- GIVE UP: If you want to reveal the phrase, you can choose
- the Give Up button. All tiles will be turned over, revealing
- the phrase. This, in effect, ends that game.
-
- NEW GAME: You can begin a new game at any time by choosing
- the New Game option from the Game pull-down menu.
-
- SOUND: The sound option allows you to choose whether or not
- sounds are played in response to choices you make while
- playing the game. Sounds are only available if you are using
-
-
-
- a compatible sound card. Toggle the sound option off and on
- by choosing the Sound option from the Game pull-down menu.
-
- OPTIONS: Choose Options from the Game pull-down menu to
- display a dialog box that allows you to select the size of
- puzzle and the phrases to use for the game:
-
- SIZE OF PUZZLE: The game can be played with two puzzle
- sizes -- 4 x 4 or 6 x 6.
-
- PUZZLE PHRASES: From the Combo box in the options
- dialog box, click on the down arrow at the right of the
- combo box to reveal a list of phrase options. Select
- the option you want.
-
- SOUND OPTIONS: Choose from a wide variety of funny and
- interesting sounds.
-
- Once you have selected program options, choose Ok. This will
- begin a new game with the options you have selected. For
- changes in sound options, the same game will continue.
-
- ORDERING THE PROGRAM
-
- To print an order form, select the option Print Order Form
- from the Game menu. Match and Solve is advertized using the
- shareware approach. This allows you to try the program and
- decide if you like it. If you like the program, and want to
- use it beyond an evaluation period, print the order form,
- and become a registered user. All items encouraging
- registration are absent from the registered version. When
- you register, you'll get the latest and greatest versions
- plus periodic discounts on other programs.
-
- Thank you for supporting shareware. Shareware saves you
- money by allowing you to try programs before you pay. WIth
- most retail software, you may get home and decide that it
- was not what you want. Too bad, you can't get your money
- back. With shareware, you can get the program for little or
- nothing, try it out, and send a registration fee to the
- author if you decide you like it. The author does not make
- any money from the program unless and until you order it
- directly from him. Registrations help the author continue
- writing shareware, and improving current programs.
-
- Please print a copy of the order form by choosing Order
- from the Game menu, and register today!
